I am heartbroken by recent events, which have once again highlighted the unfinished business of our country—the business of ensuring that Black Americans are treated with equity, respected for their humanity, and allowed to live with dignity. Any type of systemic oppression is a betrayal of our American ideals. Until we overcome institutional and structural racism, none of us will truly be free.

WE MUST ENDEAVOR TO CHANGE.

We must commit ourselves to the creation of a fair and equal society where Black Americans thrive. Together, we must fulfill America’s promise of freedom and justice for all.
